Mother of God "Joy of All Who Sorrow"

In this icon the Theotokos is pictured as also being our mother, who feels our pain, and intercedes for Her many children before the Savior. She is our joy because she is the one who hears us in our sorrows. The original version of this icon gained popularity after healing the sister of Patriarch Joachim, Euphymia, after she heard a voice which requested that a priest celebrate a Molieban before this icon.

Kontakion:

We have no other help, we have no other hope, but you, O Lady.

Help us, for in you we hope, and of you we boast, for we are your servants.

Let us not be put to shame.
