Dormition of the Mother of God Orthodox Icon
The
Dormition, or Falling Asleep, of the Theotokos is one of the twelve
great feast of the Orthodox church and commemorates the death,
resurrection and glorification of the Mother of God. This feast
proclaims that Mary has been taken to heaven in the fullness of both Her
spiritual and bodily existence.
